Ilustration In Favor Of Books Antichrista

When lonely sixteen-year-old university student Blanche meets the dazzling Christa, she is swept off her feet. Christa, who talks freely of her impoverished background in the Eastern Belgian town of Malmedy, claims to work in a bar with her boyfriend, a David Bowie lookalike called Detlev.

When Blanche's mother, who finds her own daughter rather colourless, bookish and dull, is also dazzled by Christa though, she soon invites her to stay at the family house. Suddenly Christa can do no wrong and, as Blanche's parents scour their address books for long-lost friends to invite to dinner to meet the newcomer, their friendship sours and Blanche's already negligible self-confidence goes into a steep decline.

With all the characteristics of Amélie Nothomb's unique fictional landscapes, Antichrista is a funny, dark and revealing journey through female friendship and rivalry.

Crit About Books Antichrista

:S i've heard so many good things about Amelie Nothomb that maybe I did not pick up that first book correctly... The writing is good, it is really easy to read... But well, the story wasn't that great... Kind of boring and slow... I'll read another one from this author and I hope the story will be mine this time ;)

If I were to choose a word to describe the book, I would say "annoying". The episodes from this book are most likely to happen in secondary school, not university. Simply immature and stupid.

This book made me so angry - but it is also creepy and absolutely fascinating!

1.5 stars. Had to read it for French class. Hard level for me (so many difficult words and not enough dialogue). I really hated all the characters ughhh. I'm sorry but I can't stand this story. I don't look forward to being tested about this at my finals 😫

At the age of six, getting undressed is nothing. By the age of twenty-six, getting undressed is already an old habit. At the age of sixteen, getting undressed is an act of deranged violence. This is the third novel Ive read by Amelie Nothomb, and while it isnt quite as amazing as The Character of Rain or Fear and Trembling, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I picked it up from the library earlier today and finished it in one sitting, as its quite short and I cant help but devour Nothombs words like they

I lowered my rating from 3 to 2 stars which might seem like a minor change to you but it's a pretty significant one for me. That's where I draw the line between a book that was just average overall but which I would still recommend, and a book that's just subpar all around (and could stay unread for all I care). Upon reflecting on this read, I have to admit that Nothomb's overarching message just left a bitter taste in my mouth; I honestly don't need more authors pushing the messages of
