Narration Conducive To Books Poema de mio Cid

Assessment Of Books Poema de mio Cid
I've wanted to read The Song of My Cid since the age of 16, when I visited Toledo, Spain, and saw El Cid's (alleged) sword Tizona on display. Our local tour guide told us of Toledo's place in the story, but it was the memory of Tizona that stuck with me, and I told myself that one day I'd read the epic. I can't believe it has taken me sixteen years (literally half my lifetime), but I finally got around to reading it. The experience was well worth the wait. In fact, I'm glad I waited and had a

What I took from this is the way that art can be used as propaganda. Though it is fun to read and the form is pleasing as well as the language (i read the Merwin translation) the Cid is a story of how a national hero could do nothong wrong and everything worked out for him. If you take this poem at face value you see his successes and you not only fee lproud but also want to emulate the Hero. The Cid is a hero who never has to grow or develop to overcome obstacles. instead he stand by his

Excellent. It was great that this was my first time, having all the critique and contextual elements to appreciate it and not simply say: "An old book about a knight that kills arabs, must be anti-islam" like most of the immature popular trend does today. A true masterpiece in its own way, builds a reflexive stereotype of the hero, something unusual if you're used to greek tragedy, but equally (if not more) exciting.

If only author of this read Aristotel's poetics...It's divided into three parts... the first and the second are a boring read.... lot's of short episodes is told, you're never into a story, 'battle tricks' are not so interesting to get your attention and motivation of some actions seems wierd to modern reader. The third part it's quite good. Author focuses on one relatively interesting story and finaly it's interesting to read.As for narrative style it's fair but not particulary good. Medieval

This book would have benefited from a greater analysis of the historical characters, rather than some cursory observations about the historiography. King Alfonso is generally remembered as a conniving treacherous lord and the Cid was something of a rogue warrior often at odds with this kingdom. Some of this is evident in the story as the banished Cid (no clear reason why "good Alfonso" banished him) wonders across Spain raiding and fighting Christians and Muslims, Spaniards and Catalans. His

The Poem of the Cid, the first great work of Spanish literature, tells the story of the 11th century military leader Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar, his unjust exile, his rehabilitation through military conquest and tribute, and his search for justice following the humiliation and abuse of his two daughters at the hands of their husbands.I wanted to like this better than I did. After all, it is the first known production of a great nation, the heroic expression of a people, and I had prepared myself to

Although most people tend to like this book, I couldn't help but see through all of the hipocritical characters, which were at the least annoying. A good adventure book, but seeped with a strange mix of fiction and nonfiction that I highly disliked. I couldn't possibly gift this historical book any more stars, sorry.
